On February 8th in South Pasadena, the San Dimas High School girls water polo team competed in the first round of CIF to determine whether or not they would advance in the league. SDHS won against South Pasadena High School with a score of 8 to 2. The hard work and hours of practice throughout the season is what led the San Dimas High School girls water polo team to win the first round of CIF. The team has been training in this difficult sport throughout the winter months, which is not easy. However, their hard work paid off and they were able to make it past the first round of CIF.

The San Dimas girls water polo team played really well, and when asked about how she thought the team did, senior Jersey Cabana stated, “After a lot of hard work and practice, we won the first round of CIF with a score of 8 to 2 against South Pasadena High School. The teamwork between all the players was really good, and the communication between everyone was also good.” Overall, all of the girls on the San Dimas High School water polo team were happy with the outcome of the game, and are ready to continue on to the second round of CIF.

“The teamwork between all the players was really good, and the communication between everyone was also good.”

— Jersey Cabana

Water polo is a winter sport, so the team practices even though it is usually very cold or raining. Therefore, it is usually very challenging to practice hard every day. Even though these challenges are present, the water polo team was able to win the first round of CIF. When asked about the practice that the team does every day, Cabana said, “We practice all the time and it is hard, but the bond between the people on the team is strong, which is probably one of the reasons why we won.”

Winning the first round of CIF was an important step towards advancing in the league, and the San Dimas High School girls water polo team was able to win through months of hard work and practice. When asked about what she thought about how the team played during the game, senior Hannah Curtis stated, “The team played to the best of their ability and the teamwork between the players was good.” Hopefully, the team plays this well again and will be able to win the second round of CIF.
