May 4, 2022
The 64th Annual Grammy Awards, hosted by Trevor Noah was a celebration of music. The Grammy’s was held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and it was a packed event. It was an arena full of the most popular celebrities and a live audience there to enjoy the performances and award ceremony. The night was a truly special night that involved many accomplishments by upcoming artists and great live performances.
The Grammy’s is a mixture of all genres of music which is why it is such a unique event. The award show honors and recognizes the hard work and music of artists from around the world. Although the artists are selected under the same categories, the artists celebrate one another’s accomplishments. This is what separates the music industry from the rest, due to their positive environment.
However what put the Grammy’s over the top, was the live performances by artists such as Lenny Kravitz and Silk Sonic. Alongside up and coming artist H.E.R, Lenny Kravitz performed one of his songs called ¨Are You Gonna Go My Way¨. The performance was extremely exciting and it had other musicians in the crowd on their feet. The best part of the performance though was when H.E.R showed off her versatility as a musician while playing drums and guitar alongside rock legend Lenny Kravitz.
Another amazing performance was performed by the group Silk Sonic, made up of Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak. They performed their hit ¨777¨ and stole the show with their electric production. The most impressive part of this duo is Anderson Paak’s ability to play drums and rap at the same time.
Although the Grammy’s was like a live music festival, the awards given out to the Artists for their work was also very special. Up against artists such as Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga, Jon Batiste’s album ¨We Are¨ won album of the year. This is a huge accomplishment for such young artists which is why it was such a special moment. His speech was also touching because he pointed out that he was very honored to even be nominated, which showed his humbleness.
Against artists such as J. Cole and Kanye West, Tyler The Creators album, ¨Call Me If You Get Lost¨ brought home the best rap album of the year. Silk Sonic, the Iconic duo that opened up the show with a live performance, took home song of the year for their song, ¨Leave the Door Open¨.
Overall, the Grammy’s was a very successful show and a memorable night for music.
