Freak Show

On Oct. 19, 2018, the San Dimas boys wrestling team competed in “Freak Show”, one of the biggest wrestling tournaments in the country.

Wrestlers from all over the world came to Las Vegas to compete for a chance to snag a “Freak Show” title. From San Dimas: Antonio Zavala, Matt Ramey, Adrian Flores, Chris Tellez, James Reinaga and Marcus Ariola attended the match.

All the wrestlers made weight and prepared to compete against the best of the best the next day. There was a total of 34 mats with wrestlers traveling from as far as Hawaii to take their shot. 

The announcer would first call junior Antonio Zavala to mat 30 to await his match. The whistle blew and Antonio and his opponent clashed heads and began to wrestle. Antonio would secure the first takedown and within a minute he would also secure a pin putting one on the board for the Saints.

The next Saint to the mat for was captain Matt Ramey. Set up after set up, Ramey tried to score a takedown and eventually, he prevailed. Later he would achieve nearfall points and win with a score of 6-2. 

The final records of the wrestlers were Adrian Flores (0-2) Chris Telles (0-2) Henry Solis (0-2) Marcus Ariola (1-2) James Reinaga (0-2) Antonio Zavala (3-2) Matt Ramey (3-2).
