On October 12, 2022, San Dimas Highschools cross-country team took on their first league meet of the season at Horsethief Canyon. Being leagues many schools in the district were there such as Diamond ranch and West Covina high school.

Athletes relax after their race

The meet started at 3 P.M., but each grade level raced at different times throughout the meet. Both the athletes and coaches have practiced and prepared for weeks and while there have been other meets before this one, this meet was the meet that determined who advances to league finals in November.

While impressive, these results did not come with ease to our athletes. In order to prepare for meets the team goes through extensive practices and drills to ensure they get the best results they could possibly get for themselves with warmups like jogging miles and strenuous workouts this team brings forth excellent work ethic and dedication to their sport.

In the end, this meet showed just how much the SDHS cross-country team has worked for this moment. Although it was not the last meet of the season these runners have accomplished so much throughout the season and will hopefully have many more opportunities to show who they are.

When asked about the results of the meet, senior Lily Enriquez stated, “ The meet ended good, with most of our teammates getting times around 20 to 25 minutes!”
