Heroes & Villains

What do the Saints think of Metro Boomin’s eighth album?

January 31, 2023

On the night of December 2nd 2022, the music producer, Metro Boomin, released his eighth album. The album consists of 15 songs with very successful artists such as The Weeknd, Future, Travis Scott, Young Thug, 21 Savage, Don Toliver, and many more. On November 29th, Metro released a short film previewing his music on the album. The short film includes star actors Morgan Freeman and LaKeith Stanfield. This shows us how creative Metro Boomin really is. This album blew up immediately after it was released.

Fans have been waiting for another Metro album since his last one “Savage Mode II” co-starred 21 Savage, had many great hits like “Runnin”, “Glock in My Lap”, “Mr. Right Now”, and “Many Men”. He made them wait two whole years for another album. “Savage Mode II” went #1 and was Certified Gold. “Heroes & Villains” was worth the wait according to the Saints. Junior, Ryan Castro said “ I knew as soon as I saw the features that the album was going to be fire. I have a ton of songs by those rappers that are in my playlist” when asked on his first reaction to the tracklist.

Metro has always been known for the great transitions from song to song. “Heroes & Villains” definitely had a ton of clean and smooth transitions. Castro stated “ The transitions are a key part to the album. It makes the album flow nicely. My favorite transition is from Metro Spider to I Can’t Save You” when asked about the transitions.

Everyone loves the song “Creepin’ ” featuring The Weeknd and 21 Savage. It is a cover of the 2004 hit “I Don’t’ Wanna Know” by Mario Winans. Senior, Alyssa Lopez said “ The Weeknd did an amazing job like always. He has a great voice and knows how to use it. I like it better than the original song” when asked her opinion on the song. This song currently has the most plays out of the album on Spotify Music.

Since Metro Boomin is a producer, the beats and production must be top tier. Metro loves using the piano in his songs. When asked about the piano being used in some of the songs she commented “ I love the way he used the piano in “Walk Em Down”. It just came out of nowhere and blended in with the beat mid song”. He also utilizes the piano perfectly in “Superhero (Heroes & Villains)” and “Umbrella”.

Overall, Metro was very creative with the album in general and how he promoted it. He had the best Hip Hop artist in the game today on the album. The Saints really enjoyed listening to this album and can’t wait for Metro’s next album. Metro helped music end the year of 2022 on a great note.
