The Saints defeat the Vikings to increase to 3-0 in league.

On Tuesday January 10th 2023, the Saints boys basketball team faced up against the Northview Vikings in a league rival matchup at home. The Saints are red hot coming in with a four game winning streak and an undefeated record in league so far. The Vikings on the other hand were the total opposite and are winless in league so far. In the last five games the Vikings are 3-2. With this being said, the Saints should take care of business and walk away with the win. It was close at first, but then the Saints pulled away with it.
Tonight at the San Dimas gym was “Silent Night”. This means that the San Dimas crowd doesn’t make a single noise until the Saints score their tenth point. So when the Saints scored that tenth point, the gym erupted. The first half of the game went really slow. Both offenses couldn’t really get anything going. Things were close at the half 24-16 San Dimas. This was San Dimas’ lowest amount of points they have put up at half in league. When asked his opinion on why their offense couldn’t get anything going, Junior, Logan Hodson stated,”Our patience was off and they sped us up a bit on offense which led to the amount of turnovers we had”.
Coach Ketterling must have had a great halftime speech because the Saints went off in the third quarter. The offense put up 20 points with the help of Senior, Ethan Chavez, Sophomore, Nathan Yearout, and Logan Hodson. This made the score 44-27 to end the quarter. The Saints slowed down, but still had control over the game. They would end up winning this game 54-40. Chavez would finish with 14 points, Yearout with 12 points, and Hodson finished with 10. When asked what their adjustment was at halftime to secure the win against the Vikings, Coach Ketterling stated,”Northview were taking a lot of charges which made it difficult for us so our adjustment was to take care of the ball”. San Dimas improved their record to 16-5 and 3-0 in league. Their next matchup is another league rival in the Covina Colts away on January 12th at 6:30.
