“So a long time ago I was playing soccer and I was on a club team, and a girl instead of kicking the ball, tripped me and I fell and injured my knee and I went to the hospital and they told it was nothing major and then, uh,  a week later I had another soccer game and then I fell again and I wasn’t able to walk and I had to be lifted off the soccer field and rushed to the emergency room where I was in pain and they had told me that I had torn my meniscus and partially tore my ACL and so then I was devastated and I had to go to physical therapy until I was able to learn how to walk again and once I did I tried getting to play soccer again but it never worked out, my skills weren’t as good as they use to be and I’d have to wear a brace while playing  and it just didn’t work out so I decided to switch to swim sophomore year after I had surgery and fully recovered and I made Varsity swim and then I just excelled in swim and water polo and so I don’t play soccer anymore but I still love it but now I just do aquatic sports.” – Dana Derweesh, Junior
