Kody King Takes Back His Throne
Kody King makes a huge impact on his comeback game.
March 31, 2023
During November of 2022, San Dimas Saints Pitcher Kody King suffered a devastating injury to his shoulder that would take him away from the game that he loves. Through months of physical therapy and determination, King was eventually able to overcome and make a strong comeback. On March 4th 2023, he was honored in winning the title of MVP of a big rivalry game against the Bonita Bearcats.
King was injured after horseplay with his friends went wrong. He thought it was no big deal, just a minor accident. Until he went to the doctor and was told that he would be out of baseball for a couple of weeks at least. “I was upset because I was just starting to play the way I thought I should be playing and doing great things on the field,” is what King said after finding out the news that he couldn’t play the game he loves for a little while.
After two months of physical therapy, hard work, and dedication, King finally heard the good news from the doctor that he could go back to playing the sport he loves. After hearing the exciting news King was eager to get back onto the field, “I was excited to be able to play with my teammates again and be back on the field.”
King’s first game pitching after his injury was against Claremont. He would agree that was not his best performance and he and his teammates knew he wasn’t the same he was before his injury. King would get a chance to pitch a better game against rival Bonita.
When King heard he was getting the ball to start against the Bearcats in a big rivalry game he said, “I wanted to pitch a better game and get back to how I was before I got injured. I wanted to have a fast tempo and keep my defense on the field for as short as possible.” King did just that when he pitched a complete game and only allowed one hit and got the win against rival Bonita.
King would then be recognized by 210 Prep Sports for pitching a great game and would get MVP of the week out of every school in the San Gabriel Valley. Some of his teammates would say this was the comeback of a lifetime.
