Luke Combs – “Gettin’ Old”

On March 24, 2023, one of country music’s most famous artists, Luke Combs, released his fourth album. The album, Gettin’ Old, consists of 18 songs and is the second half to the double album called Growin’ Up. Expectedly, the album was well accepted by country fans and has numerous songs in the top ten. 

The country world had been waiting patiently for the second half of his double album to release. His last album, “Growin’ Up” had many hits such as “Doin’ This”, “Going, Going, Gone”, “The Kind of Love We Make”, and “Outrunnin’ Your Memory”. Gettin’ Old is already one of the favorite albums by any country singer and puts an exclamation point on Combs’ career. Senior, Isaac Ortega said, “Luke Combs is one of my favorite artists of all time and he continued to prove why he is one of the greatest with this album.”

Combs is a very unique artist and in every song, there is a different story being told. “Each song grabs your attention and you get to learn about Combs and hear about all these stories.” He has always been able to tie songs and albums together and this is a big reason as to why he is so special.

In weeks building up to the release of the album, Combs would release bits and pieces of the new songs coming out, to keep the fans on their toes. One of the most anticipated songs that he previewed was “5 Leaf Clover” which is an emotional song where Luke Combs expresses how lucky he is for his friends and family supporting him. This was an immediate fan favorite and has soared through rankings. Senior, Jaiden Miranda said, “5 Leaf Clover was definitely my favorite song because it kind of reminds you to be grateful for what you have and appreciate everything God gifts you with.”

Another reason why Combs is so popular and why this album did so well is because he actually writes his own songs majority of the time. Out of the 18 new tracks, he co-wrote 15 of them. Not only that, but all of his songs are relatable and they attract an audience because fans can connect themselves with the song. “I feel like there is a song for everyone in the country world in his new album. Every track is heartwarming and you can tell a ton of effort and time went into it,” said Miranda.

Luke Combs delivered yet another instant classic album that received extraordinary amounts of love and good criticism. Each track is unique and personal which allows fans to connect with every song and learn about Combs’ life. While he may be growing up, his music will never get old.
