Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour

Reporting live from the Eras Tour in Las Vegas, Nevada.

March 31, 2023

On Friday, March 24, 2023, Swiftie’s jaws dropped when she headlined Allegiant Stadium for her highly anticipated Era’s Tour. This Era’s tour had everyone fighting for tickets when it was announced. Since Taylor’s last tour, Reputation, she has released over 70 songs; this allowed fans to conspire about what her setlist would consist of and if the tickets were really worth the money. To say the least, it was unforgettable. Some Saints made the trip to Las Vegas, Nevada, and enjoyed the Era’s Tour last Friday night.

American Singer-Songwriter Swift had EVERYONE hoping for tickets when the Eras tour was announced through her Instagram on November 1, 2022. When these tickets dropped, Swift fans, also known as Swifties, went absolutely crazy planning to get tickets to this once and lifetime concert. This concert was so special to Swift and her fans because she performed songs from her past and present; this tour took us through the musical eras of her career.

In preparation for this event, Swifties took the outfit preparation very seriously. Because of this, the fashion at the shows by the fans was extravagant. Inspiration for the outfits were based on one of her ten eras, or albums. Outfits from all Eras were worn by Swifties, and the fashion collection is known as the Met Gala (Taylor’s Version).

Opening night was March 18, 2023, in Glendale, Arizona. After this show, social media quickly informed future fans what they would be getting through this tour. Let’s say, if you are a Swiftie, it was DEFINITELY worth the money.

Swift performs a total of 43 songs, with no intermission. The set lasted around three and a half hours and the performance was incomparable. The set list featured shows from nine of her eras and two surprise songs of Swift’s choice. Also, fans were given a light-up bracelet to wear during the concert that flashed different lights that correspond simultaneously with each song and era being performed. This touch excited the crowd and made the show interactive for the crowd and added a beautiful, memorable, unique sight for fans when they looked into the lit-up crowd.

Swift started her show by rising from center stage and opening with her Lover era. Swift performed 6 songs from this album, opening the show with “Miss Americana and The Heartbreak Prince” and closing the era with “The Archer.” Swift then lowered back under the stage to make an outfit change for her next era, Fearless. This Era included three very popular songs, consisting of “Fearless,” “You Belong With Me,” and “Love Story.” These songs have the crowd up, singing and dancing along with Swift as she performed with her bedazzled guitar she had leaked to her fans through her Instagram story.

Swift then moved into the never before performed era, Evermore. She performed a total of five songs from this album. The mood of the crowd shifted to hear Swift’s beautiful voice. Fans also took in the amazing performance putting on through the different songs ranging from different dance combinations to a very intimate performance during “tolerate it” between her and one of her lead dancers. Just as the crowd slowed down, Swift transitioned into her Reputation era; this era had the crowd up, dancing, and showing Taylor Swift’s “bad” side. After performing four songs from this era, she gave fans a small taste of Speak Now but kept it to only one song. However, it is highly anticipated that Swift will drop her version of Speak Now after or during this tour.

As she moved into her sixth era of the night, swift performed four songs from her Red album, which was rereleased as her version before the tour. Though this era was only four songs, it was longer because Swift performed her 10-minute version of “All Too Well.” After this, Swift moved into the Folklore era; Swift showed her love for this era by performing 7 songs, which included many fan favorites and definitely caused some tears for some fans. To shift the energy back to a party, Swift moved into 1989. This era was definitely a crowd favorite and was one of the most fun experiences of the whole night. After five songs, the crowd was left to wonder what surprise songs would be performed next.

When Swift returned to the stage, she performed one song on the guitar and one on the piano. This moment in the concert was an intimate moment between Swift and her crowd. She was personal with her choices in her surprise songs and described her speaking as just talking to us like each fan was the only one in the room having a one-on-one conversation with Taylor. The two surprise songs Vegas Night One received were Our Song and Snow On the Beach. After these songs, Swift dove into her final era of the night and her newest era, Midnights. The Midnights album came out October 21, 2022; though this was her newest album, Swifties sang and danced along throughout this era. Swift’s last song was Karma, and she ended the night thanking the crowd.

Overall, Taylor described this Vegas crowd as “the crowd of childhood dreams.” Fans stayed throughout the entire show, and did not exit the stadium till the lights turned on.

However, some fans complained after night two that technically, it is not an “eras”  tour if Swift does not perform a song from every one of her albums. On night two in Arizona, Swift chose not to perform a song from her debut album. Though fans were disappointed, it is understandable why Swift made this choice. Because Swift did not own the rights to her music, she re-released some of her older albums after re-recording them and labeling them (Taylor’s Version). Because she does not own albums Speak Now and Debut, she has chosen to not perform a variety of songs from these albums due to the fact that she is in the process of re-recording and re-releasing her versions of them.

All in all, if you are a true Swiftie, this concert is absolutely necessary to attend or just to see. This show was unforgettable and truly represented the different eras of Swift through her vision and version of herself as a performer, woman, and singer-songwriter. Versions of different shows are available to watch through different social media platforms like TikTok and Youtube.
