As students finish off 2023, we’re digging into what goals they’re setting for the new year. From better grades to personal growth, we’ll be checking out who’s aiming for what, right here at SDHS
Among the many resolutions students are setting themselves, some want academic success and others aim for more personal goals. Whether it’s aiming for better grades or creating good study habits, the desire to succeed in the classroom is a common goal. Behind this focus often involves a determination to overcome procrastination and develop a stronger work ethic.
Senior Janelle Garcia shares her aspirations, stating, “My New Year’s resolution is to become more motivated and to get my things done—things that I would just wait and procrastinate on and wait till the last minute.” This reflects the broader desire among students to break free from the clutches of procrastination and embrace a more proactive approach to their studies and work
On a more personal note, Senior Lesile Magallanes expresses a resolution that involves leaving negativity behind and embracing the joy of senior year. Leslie states, “My New Year resolution is to leave all my opps behind this year, like my ex, because I hate him. And I just want to forget about him and pretend he never happened. I also want the rest of my senior year to be as fun as possible.” This highlights the importance of personal growth and focusing on positive experiences as students navigate their final year of high school.
Some students may be setting goals related to extracurricular activities or social engagements. These aspirations contribute to a well-rounded high school experience and complete a full circle of academic and personal development.
Habit changes or personal quirks, are just a feround out the list. While these goals may not carry the same weight, they still contribute to individual growth and self-improvement that defines the start of a new year at SDHS.
