The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival happens once every year and occupies two weekends with big names like Kanye, Tyler the Creator, Lana Del Ray, and more performing all day. In the past big names such as Frank Ocean and Travis Scott have performed at this event. All this is to say that this event isn’t one to miss out on, but what do SDHS saints think of this year’s Coachella lineup?
This year’s lineup consists of well-known artists ranging from R&B to Rap to Rock and more, to list a few names Lana Del Ray, Tyler the Creator, Lil Uzi Vert, Peso Pluma, Deftones, an upcoming artist YG Marley, and more come out to perform on various days.
What do the SDHS Saints think of the 2024 Coachella Lineup, to answer that question Sophomore, Angelo Moreno says, “ I say that this year it’s a very iffy lineup, there’s tons of great talent and there is also a nice variety of genres, I’m happy its not just rap and R&B.”
Ariel Mendez, Junior, shares with us her opinion on the Coachella festival, “ Coachella seems like a cool experience where you get to witness famous artists perform with your friends and family”
To give his opinion Nick Melodia, Junior, expresses, “ I don’t really follow Coachella, but I do follow music as a whole and play guitar. A lot of the names on the lineup I’ve never heard of or have no interest in. Obviously, if I cared about the performers more I might want to go, but I don’t think that it justifies the price it would cost. I do like that with a ticket you aren’t getting just one genre but rather a plethora of genres, like I said I like music and play guitar, but Coachella still fails to captivate me in any sort of way.”
The general consensus is Coachella is overall an experience worth experiencing with your friends despite its cost. Coachella debuted as a Music Festival in 1999 and since then it has grown to something that people from all over the world come to see and experience. Many say that Coachella is something they would love to experience or love experiencing. As we near Coachella what are your predictions for next year’s lineup?
