“As my junior year is ending, and senior year is coming closer, I get nervous when thinking about my future. But I am working to find opportunities that could help me in the future. I am interested in aerospace and aeronautical engineering, and the school is offering field trips for aviation which I have gone to. The first one was a tour of the factory of General Atomic where they make drones for the military and it was exciting to learn about the processes that go into making a drone. I got to see the entire manufacturing process, from cutting metal sheets to putting the wing on the drone. They also mentioned internships and jobs there. The other field trip I went on was to a helicopter expo where they showed many different helicopters and they explained how they work. There was a flight simulator at the convention where I got to fly a helicopter with an instructor. My first flight ended with me crashing as soon as I got in the air, but the second time I tried I was able to fly around and land. With all the opportunities I am getting from going on the field trips, I am beginning to be optimistic about my future.”
