1. Have a picnic date at Bonelli Park
Tell some of your closest friends to bring your favorite snacks, make a charcuterie board, and take a trip to your local park. Bonelli Park is a hotspot for teens with nothing but time on their hands and fun on their minds. While there, bring some entertainment, like a movie to watch on your laptop or crafts to make.
2. Do an escape room at Trapped!
Book a private reservation at the escape room “Trapped!”. An escape room is a fun bonding experience that can teach friends how to communicate and work together in new experiences. Prices range to 50 dollars a person. There are 3 different experiences for participants to choose from, so you’ll never run out of ideas.
3. Visit the California Botanic Garden in Claremont
15 minutes away is the largest botanic garden in California. Take a stroll through the native flower gardens and snap a few pictures. Make sure to bring your own snacks for your stroll and dress in some cute outfits for your social media feed.
4. Take a trip to an antique store in downtown
There are lots of old antique items that could be used for a new home. Re-decorating your room is a fun idea for the summer, so why not bring this activity to life with a few antiques to make your room or house more homey. There are 2 antique stores in downtown San Dimas, both of which house all sorts of trinkets like figurines, furniture, and a few clothes as well.
5. Pick strawberries at the local Strawberry farm
Indulge in some fresh-tasting strawberries grown right here in San Dimas. Although you don’t get to pick them yourselves, it never hurts to make a food run for locally grown fruit.
6. Ride a 3 Wheeler along the canyon in San Dimas
Thanks to Caliride, established in San Dimas and Johnson Valley, an offroading experience is available locally with beautiful views and thrilling adventure. The reservation can be pricey, starting at $200, but with a 3-hour drive, a zipline experience (costing an extra $20), and pit stops for food and pictures, it all seems very worth it.
7. Visit the Pomona College Skyspace installation
Downtown Claremont is full of fun stores to shop at and restaurants to eat at. But the most intriguing of all is a small light show that is sure to relax you on a nice evening. Created by James Turrell, an artist who is known for his work in light fixtures, created this space in 2007 which is considered “one of the best works of public art in recent memory” dubbed by the Los Angeles Times. The program begins at sunset so don’t be late!
8. Play at the Raging Waters water park
Although overpopulated with bees, this fun beach day away from the beach will transport you back to the younger days to when peeing in the pool wasn’t a big deal. A potential idea is to make up a fun game while there, spot how many people are wearing a certain pattern bathing suit, like a Where’s Waldo and I Spy game mash.
9. Visit Raymond M. Alf Museum of Paleontology
If dinosaurs are your thing, this is your trip your summer. This museum was opened in 1968, but its popularity has been taking off recently. There are all sorts of exhibits here, such as the Hall of Life and the Hall of Footprints.
10. Go to a concert in LA
Although not very local, it is still a fun trip to take. There are tons of artists who perform in the city of stars weekly. There’s always an opportunity to widen your music taste. There are venues such as the Hollywood Bowl, The El Rey Theatre, and the Youtube Theatre.
There are endless possibilities to making your summer the best yet. These activities are only the start of what our local cities provide, make sure to do more research on other activities that suit better preferences.
