I was never really fond of writing growing up, it was always the one thing that teachers would tell my parents I needed to work on in elementary school. So when I found myself signing up for our journalism class it was not really for writing part, but more the people in the class, and Mrs. Lehrmann.
I have taken Journalism for the past two year (Junior and Senior year) and my passion for writing has grown stronger and stronger ever since. I have enjoyed writing numerous different stories on different topics like Gift Guides during the holiday season and homecoming recaps, but my favorite stories to write have always been sports stories. I knew coming into my senior year I wanted to be the sports editor so that’s what I applied for and got. My family is a huge sports family and my whole life I spent going to my brother’s baseball games, and then I began playing sports as well. I have a passion for sports and sports statistics, and I have been like that my entire life.
Going to a variety of different games and events over the past two years has really helped grow my passion for sports and writing. I have became a better and quicker writer over the past two years, and I never would have found my passion to write about sports if it were not for this class or position. I want to became a sports broadcaster and this class helped me realize that.
