On May 24th San Dimas girls from every class compete against each other in a single game football elimination tournament. The winners: the class of 2025 won with a score of 9-0 against the sophmores in the championship game. This is the last time these classes will compete against each other.
There was a surprising upset in these games as in the first round the sophomores upset the seniors 8-6 The seniors scored first with a Maddie Coss 40 yard run but failed the two point conversion. The Sophomores answered with an Audery Schlim 15 yard passing touchdown to Raelynn Bigs. They took the final lead with an Audrey Schlim interception. But as expected the Juniors beat the freshman in a close game 9-0 40 yard rushing touchdown from Priscilla Romero, Her thoughts about the play were “I was like oh my God I have the ball now I start running, cool. Then I saw Skylar perfectly block this one girl. Wait this is lowkey open. I saw this girl running behind me, and I thought it would be embarrassing if she caught me. And when I scored I was really happy because I didn’t expect to score. I just showed up just to be there.” Junior Priscilla Romero said. And an interception from Mckenzie Mcmillen. Defense was a clear factor in that game. The Seniors went to play the Freshman for 3rd place, The Freshmen held their own but ultimately couldn’t overcome the strength of the seniors as the Seniors won 8-0 Janessa 23 yard pass to Aaliyah over a defender was all that was needed for the seniors to secure first place . In the Championship game the Juniors played the Sophomores. Juniors get stopped on the first drive. Sophomores start to drive the field then they throw an interception to Mayah Vasquez. The offense capitalized with a 40 yard rushing touchdown from Riley Tsones. That was the last score of the game as the sophomores got stopped and the Juniors ran out the clock. A player’s reaction to the win “I was really surprised but I was really happy because I didn’t think we wouldn’t win but I thought the chances were very slim.
Junior Romero said. This is the class of 2025 first win in a competition against the classes. “I thought it was really fun. I really looked forward to the practices. It was really fun. I got to talk to people that I would never usually talk to, and I think it was a really good experience. I think everyone should try it one time. I just had fun communicating to people and talking and cheering on the sideline when I wasn’t in and it really makes you connect to the people in your class.” Junior Priscilla Romero said. 2024 was a fun experience for everyone involved.
