On September 13th San Dimas renewed its rivalry against Bonita for the Smudgepot. San Dimas comes into this game 2-0 outscoring their opponents 98-14 and coming off a bye week. Bonita comes into this game 3-0. Bonita has had the best over San Dimas for the past 6 years. San Dimas looks to turn the tide this year. Bonita continues the streak with a convincing 47-7 win.
The 52nd annual smudge pot did not work out in the Saints favor as Bonita won without a question. Saints started off the game with some trickery by pulling a successful onside kick on the opening kickoff to steal a possession. After that the game started off slow as it was 7-0 at the end of the first and it looked like it was going to be a fight til the end. Bonita then extended the game to 14-0 Saints needed to answer if they wanted to stay in this game. They do just that with a 47 yard touchdown pass from Junior Brandon Meridith to Senior Jeramiah Fernadez. The Saints then get another successful onside kick and all the momentum is seeming to be on the Saints side right now. Unfortunately nothing was produced with that possession or the next one from San Dimas as they entered the end of the half down 26-7.
The Saints have been able to score 28 and 35 points in one half bv but this would be a tall task to come back from. The Saints are shut down for the rest of the game and Bonita seemed to be unstoppable as the final score was 47-7. A day to forget for San Dimas as they fall to 2-1 and the losing streak against Bonita extends to 7 years. San Dimas will look to bounce back from this in the following week against Sunny Hills.
