A food frenzy is a fun event during which clubs and other organizations sell food on campus to support their funding. The food frenzy occurs during lunch, and students purchase delicious foods and drinks while having fun and supporting their peers. During that time, clubs and organizations have a friendly competition to see who can sell the most food. Although it depends on who has the best food, many still sell more than others. These are the top three earners from the 2024 October food frenzy.
At the 2024 October Food Frenzy, AVID achieved the highest earnings, selling over 120 items. Although they didn’t sell out, their profits were still the most significant. They offered Boba for seven dollars and chips for one dollar. English Teacher Ms. Ruiz, the advisor and teacher for AVID, shared that much of the funding from the event would benefit their senior banquet and potentially a senior field trip. She noted that this support would greatly enhance their resources for the class. When asked about being one of the top earners, Ms. Ruiz replied, “I’m surprised. I didn’t feel like we sold that much, but I guess Boba sells quickly.” She added, “Since we increased the price this year, our sales improved. We were skeptical at first because we didn’t know if it would hurt or help us.” Ms. Ruiz emphasized that raising their prices has positively impacted their funds for the school year, which will benefit the students. They plan to continue selling Boba and chips at future Food Frenzy events.
The Class of 2028 achieved remarkable success by selling all 100 Crumbl cookies during the food frenzy, ranking number two in most sales. Each is priced at $6. Ms. McGill, the math teacher and adviser for the Class of 2028, shared her thoughts on the event: “This time, the kids wanted to sell Crumbl cookies in the flavors of caramel apple and chocolate chip,” she explained. “We wanted to try Crumbl cookies because of their popularity; it’s Crumbl season, and everyone loves them.” Ms. McGill highlighted that Crumbl was a fantastic choice, as many people were excited about it this month. When asked how they planned to use the funds raised from the fundraiser, she stated they would allocate the money for upcoming school events, including prom and homecoming. Regarding their unexpected achievement of ranking in the top 3, Ms. McGill expressed her surprise: “I’m totally surprised! I didn’t even know that, but we sold out right at the beginning of lunch.” She added, “We want to do this again for the next food frenzy, but next time, we’ll purchase more Crumbl cookies and offer pre-sales.”
The San Dimas Dance Team secured a spot among the top three earners during the food frenzy. The team sold pizza, candy, and cupcakes to support their activities. When asked how they planned to use the funds raised, Junior Captain Farrah Carrey expressed, “We’re going to use it for our competition and uniform fees. It is very helpful that there are school events to support us.” She emphasized the importance of these events and fundraisers for the team. Looking ahead to the next food frenzy, she indicated they plan to sell more than just cupcakes and pizza. When asked about the surprise of making the top three earners, Farrah replied, “I don’t think it’s surprising since pizza sells very well.” She pointed out that many people enjoy pizza and sweets, which contributed to their quick sales and significant revenue during the food frenzy.
