San Dimas High School and Lone Hill Middle School joined forces to host their annual Fall Showcase Concert at the Bonita Center for the Arts on October 10th, 2024. Students showcased their combined talents and hard work throughout their show, which was a performance you wanted to attend!
The Fall Showcase is the annual debut of the years choir hosted at the Bonita Center of the Arts, the show is directed by the choir teacher Mr. Jared Pugh. The performances consisted of San Dima’s Chorale, Bel Canto, and Chamber Choir, alongside Lone Hill’s Choralairs and Treble Choir. All ensembles performed multiple songs that gave the showcase an inviting and heartfelt atmosphere; perfectly capturing the essence of fall.
Every choir needs to prepare to ensure a successful performance. In the weeks leading up to the Fall Showcase, students dedicated multiple hours to rehearsals to perfect their lyrics and harmonies. “We all spend countless hours working to make sure we do our best,” Senior Brijon Lewis stated. Lewis is part of both Chorale and Chamber, so he can speak for a diverse range of experiences within the choir program. This dedication was evident as the students did not disappoint, and each group captivated the crowd from start to finish.
The full-house audience was introduced to a mixture of spooky Halloween songs performed by the Treble Choir to an uplifting spiritual tribal song performed by Bel Canto. The diverse selection of music highlighted the unique talents of each group but also reflected the season’s spirit. “This year’s setlist for the Fall Showcase was diverse but still represented fall,” Senior Ryleigh Hawthorne said. The audience enjoyed the range shown by each ensemble.
San Dimas High School and Lone Hill Middle School Choir Department’s 2024 debut was a great success, as many enthusiastic responses from the audience reflected the success of the performance. The showcases visibly moved family, friends, and community members, as they clapped and cheered to each group. Each student brought their best to the stage, showing their hard work, love, and dedication to singing. The returning performers and newcomers created a mix of energy and talent that captivated each member of the audience, proving that the 2024 Choir Department is off to an amazing start.
