San Dimas High School’s Varsity tennis team has done it again, clinching their sixth consecutive year as league champions and remaining undefeated as of October 17. This season, the Varsity team has won against teams like Alta Loma, Colony, Los Altos, and South Hills. Meanwhile, Junior Varsity (JV) had a solid season too, with only one loss to Los Altos, but bouncing back to win the second match against them. As the Varsity team prepares for the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) this month, their performance in these games will determine their path to victory.
The Saints’ first league game was on September 19th against the Alta Loma Braves. San Dimas’s Varsity team won 12-6 overall. Although the JV girls had a tough start, losing 7-11 in that game, they ultimately made a strong comeback and tied for first place as League Champions.
The Varsity Tennis team maintained its winning streak until the end of the season. They are currently the undefeated league champions, having won all eight games. Although their season record has been remarkable, their victories against tough competitions like Alta Loma and South Hills showcased their determination and strength as a team.
Coach Al, the head coach of the San Dimas Saints’ Tennis team has only good things to say about this year’s team. “Champions aren’t made on the court. Champions are made from something they have deep inside. The 2024-2025 Saints girls’ tennis proved it again this season, the desire to win together.”
This week on October 22nd, the Saints brought eleven athletes to League Prelims, and seven out of eleven players advanced to finals. They eliminated three out of four schools, bringing three singles and two doubles to go up against Alta Loma. At the end of finals on October 25th, the Saints won seven titles, securing first, third, and fourth place in singles, along with second and third place in doubles.
As the Saints Tennis team prepares for their CIF matches, the team and coaches are focused on maintaining their undefeated streak and carrying that to the court. Leading up to their important games, they are practicing hard, working on plays, and improving their overall game to ensure they are ready to win CIF. Strength and teamwork will be crucial in facing the challenges ahead in CIF.
