Throughout November, many students at SDHS shared their thoughts on the album. Some praised its innovative sound and clever wordplay, highlighting tracks that resonated with their personal experiences and emotions. However, others felt that the album did not match the energy of his previous works, noting a stylistic shift that left them wanting more. Here are some opinions from SDHS students.
Sophomore Camille Niren recently expressed her excitement about Tyler’s new album “Chromakopia”, saying, “I like it; I enjoyed listening to ‘Hey Jane’ and ‘Darling, I.'” Captivated by its sounds, she has been playing it non-stop, and it has quickly become one of her favorites. As a long-time fan of Tyler, she feels a strong connection to his music and sees this album as a significant evolution in his artistry. “I wish I had bought tickets to see him live,” she lamented, longing to experience the energy of a concert where she could sing along with other fans. Camille enjoys sharing the album with friends and discussing its profound themes. With every listen, she discovers new layers that deepen her appreciation. Overall, she adored Tyler’s new release and eagerly anticipates what he will create next.
Freshman student Christian Narsico shared his thoughts on Tyler, the Creator’s new album “Chromakopia”, expressing his disappointment. He stated, “I thought it was not that good compared to his other albums,” explaining that he didn’t feel the same emotional connection to this project as he did with Tyler’s earlier works. “I was looking forward to this new release,” he added, “but ultimately, I felt nothing while listening to it.” He described the album as “kind of bland and soulless,” which contrasted sharply with the depth typical of Tyler’s music. Although he found a couple of songs enjoyable, he felt that the majority of the tracks fell flat. Christian noted that Tyler has consistently pushed boundaries in his previous albums, making this lack of innovation even more disappointing. “I had high hopes, but it seems like this time, the album didn’t live up to the hype,” he concluded, reflecting on his overall dissatisfaction with the project.
Junior student Hannah Sutton shared her opinion on Tyler, the Creator’s new album, “Chromakopia.” She said, “It was a good album, but I thought it was overrated.” Hannah felt that many people were hyping up the album, as numerous individuals talked to her about it and claimed it was perfect. However, after listening to it, she found it to be just an average album. She mentioned, “It was good but not great. If I had to rate it out of 10, I would give it a 7.” Overall, she thought the album was good but not one of the best.
