The San Dimas High School Varsity Girls’ Volleyball Team wrapped up a remarkable season, achieving first place in the Hacienda League. With high expectations set by six experienced seniors and the addition of standout player Bobbie Torres, the Lady Saints achieved an impressive league championship. However, they faced a tough first round in the CIF playoffs against El Dorado. Despite the early playoff loss, the team’s regular-season success demonstrated its ability to compete at a high level.
Throughout the season, the Saints celebrated several victories over larger and tougher schools like Claremont, Ayala, Diamond Bar, and Bonita. They also placed second in the Burbank Tournament and reached the semifinal
s in the Santiago and Ayala tournaments, facing off against high-level competition. One of their major achievements was taking a set against a Division 2 CIF semifinalist Etiwanda, showcasing their strength as a team.
Coach Hanson pays “GRIT” tremendous credit for their success as a team, “As a team we focused on the acronym “GRIT” (Gratitude, Resiliency, Integrity, and Team), emphasizing being thankful for the opportunity to play, bouncing back in the face of adversity, holding ourselves to high standards, and putting the team first. Those qualities defined our season as we navigated challenges and successes together. I felt that we exhibited all the attributes through all the challenges we faced as a team.”
However, injuries were a challenge this season, as important players like Jayden Hanson, last year’s Valle Vista League MVP, and Jaelyn Ramos, a leader in blocks, were sidelined due to season-ending injuries. Despite these setbacks, the Saints went undefeated in the Hacienda league, bumping them up to Division 4 in CIFs while other schools in the same league were only in Division 7. Because of this large Division bump, the Saints unfortunately lost the first round to El Dorado.
Despite the early playoff loss, the San Dimas High School Varsity Girls’ Volleyball Team had an amazing season. They won the league championship and played really well against tough teams. Their hard work and team spirit guided them through challenges, setting a strong foundation for future success.
