Many teens now feel like holidays are now dull, different from the magic they felt as kids. There could be many factors to this, like a holiday myth being busted, or it’s just the side effects of being older, we’ll have to see. We also interviewed many students to see their thoughts on this topic.
Many teens today feel the holidays have lost the charm they liked as children. The excitement of myths like Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny, now with the realization that they are not real comes along with growing up. A chunk of San Dimas Students say that holiday myths help with that holiday magic. The simplicity of childhood is often replaced with a more practical view of these holidays.
Despite this, many teens are finding new ways to connect with the holiday spirit. Instead of focusing on gifts or traditions like Santa, they find a new way to get back joy in these holidays and create new memories. Some San Dimas Students still think the magic is there because they could make it now. While the magic for some has been watered down, some students are finding meaning in the holiday season through decorating or setting up the holiday event.
