San Dimas High School Choir and the Lone Hill Middle School Choir held their annual winter concert on Dec Sixth at Bonita Center of the Arts. The concert was meant to bring everybody together for the Christmas season and celebrate the Seniors in the choirs. That night was also senior night for the choir department. The women’s flower crowns and the men’s boutonnieres represented the seniors in the choirs.
The Choirs sang various classic Christmas songs, goofy children’s songs, and old Latin songs with the same intentions to bring the community together. Not only was this night for the community and the families of the choir it was also for the seniors. It was Senior night which was meant to thank and represent the seniors as this was their last ever winter concert.
The members of the choirs were all impacted by the celebration of the night for the seniors and the family at the start of the holidays. A spectator in a sold-out auditorium senior Maylanie Larrimore said “I’m not a part of the choir but my friends are and I know how much this means to them to be honored and that makes it mean a lot to me.” This is when she referred to the seniors who performed and were honored in the show.
That was not only an emotional time for the spectators but it was for the choral department. Senior Brijon Lewis was represented and said “This might have been just my second year of choir but I am still so sad that it’s ending. Though I am also kinda happy that it’s ending it can be tiring at times.” This was a common theme when asking around the seniors who had mixed emotions between sadness and happiness. Though when asking the other grades they were all sad to see their seniors going.
One of the ending songs “Silent Night” caused an emotion to run through the music hall the seniors were all holding hands while singing. Which signified their unity of graduating while also proving that the choir had brought them together not only as friends but as family.
