As 2024 approaches an end, it’s only appropriate to review the winter season fashion trends here at San Dimas High. So, courtesy of some of the best dressed at SDHS, they took us through the details of their outfits and what fashion means to them in their everyday lives. From denim-on-denim to chic mini-skirts, students are embracing their style in the classroom and it sparks another question: Where do they get their inspiration from?
Good style is no stranger to our students and with winter approaching, they are starting to switch out their jean shorts for denim sets and thin cardigans for chunky sweaters. Junior, Josh Skinner, is arguably one of the best dressed in his grade and when interviewed, Josh was wearing a denim set with a thrifted jean jacket from Levi’s, a pair of baggy blue jeans, a thin black belt, and the most popular shoe of 2024 — Adidas Sambas. As it comes effortlessly for Josh, he explains how his outfits are mostly curated from what he finds online, at the Goodwill, or on Depop. When it comes to his fashion inspiration, Josh mentioned an influencer who goes by the name Wisdom Kaye whose style is a combination of avante-garde, vintage, and luxury clothing. Josh describes his favorite winter pieces as, “Probably this jean jacket I just got or a nice long sleeve.”
Senior, Marlie Walker, has been curating the perfect outfits since freshman year and is often known for her cozy cardigans and micro skirts. When she was interviewed, Marlie was wearing a chunky knit sweater, a black mini skirt, and her new leather knee-high boots. Her top fashion inspiration is Lily-Rose Depp because she has a”feminine silhouette” and can be seen wearing cute and simple outfits. She describes her style as “all over the place” and she mostly enjoys wearing “a bigger top and flowy bottoms” because it gives her more creative freedom when finalizing her outfit for the day.
Throughout the year, you can find Josh, Marlie, and other fashionable students on campus dressing to the occasion, or rather, the season. Their chic and stylish fashion choices inspire many others at SDHS, and we can’t wait to see what they have in store for us next semester.
