This final season, Link Crew assisted freshmen in getting through their first high school finals season. Link crew hosted a ‘coco and cram’ to help freshmen study for their exams and also provided hot cocoa and snacks for all attendees. During finals week, pancakes were handed out to freshman for free to support them through their final exams.
Link crew, run by Mr. D this school year, focuses on supporting freshmen through their first year at San Dimas High School. Link Crew hosts various events throughout the year that allow freshmen to build connections with their peers. Link Crew has over 30 upperclassmen who volunteer their time to support the school’s freshmen. San Dimas High Senior, Alana Alonzo joined Link Crew because she feels that it is important to help the freshman because she wants to be a part of the action that is aiding freshmen in having the “best first year of high school they could have.”
The “coco and cram” that Link Crew hosted on December 16th and 17th from 3:30 to 5:30 pm in the media center was very successful. The event had a good turnout, with around 30 students in attendance. Hot cocoa and various cookies were handed out to all attendees. The media center provided a cozy and warm place for freshmen to study. Link Crew Members also offered tutoring to all attendees in any subject they needed help in. The freshmen felt the event was very effective and a nice event they would attend again. San Dimas High School Freshmen, Vincent Cardenas, Christian Narciso, and Ben Xu attended the event and made good remarks about it. Vincent Cardenas exclaimed that the event was ” a nice environment to study in” and all of the freshmen were fond of the cookies and coco given out at the event.
To continue the support during freshman finals, on December 19th and 20th, Link Crew handed out free pancakes to freshmen before school started. Link Crew members made, plated, and handed out pancakes to all freshmen who wanted a breakfast snack before doing their first high school finals. Overall, Link Crew was extremely supportive in getting freshmen through finals season, and everyone is now ready to relax over Christmas break finally!
