- What is your favorite medium of art?
“I think probably pencil but I like tempura too.”
2. What are some of your favorite pieces of art?
“That’s my grandma. It was a project we had to do for the Day of the dead. We could do a celebrity or a family member so I just did my grandma. The flowers are roses with watercolor. She died when I was like 9 in 2015 and she always wore wore this rose scented moisturizer.”
“My dad works at APU as the head track coach. Once a year they have a really big track meet like called the Bryan League Competition and he wanted me to draw a logo for the shirt. I could only use 7 colors because of his shirt company. He gave me like 3 days to draw but I did it on the last day because of procrastination.”
“We were supposed to paint our favorite food but I had just went out to dinner so I painted the raw fish. This is watercolor and ink. The food was actually so pretty even though the lighting sucked. There were all these really warm tones on the fish. I hadn’t done watercolor since the beginning of that school year. It was fun to work with it again.”
3. Would you say you have any artists that serve as an inspiration to you?
“I guess the world is my inspiration because whenever I look around I like to look at all the different and pretty colors and think about how I could paint it. My favorite artist is Monet but I don’t think I could paint like him.”
4. How are you going to take this to your future?
“I’m trying to get into an animation program so that I can like tell stories. But if not that then fine arts it is”
5. What have some of your favorite moments from AP Art been so far?
“Besides gossiping with Maryanna, my favorite thing about the class is how we get to make a portfolio with everything. The theme I’m doing is crush. I came up with the theme ‘crush’ because I like drawing and painting human interactions and relationships. I thought it would be interesting to do romance. Also, I love looking at my art and think oh wow I’m getting better and better. You look at your old art and wanna vomit.”
6. What is your favorite thing about Mr. Black as a teacher?
“He knows a lot about art so he can work with all student’ different styles because I think a lot of people in the class do things different but he works uniquely with each of them. He always comments ‘EXECELLENT’ on every assignment.”
7. What is the most frustrating thing to use to draw of paint if you consider there to be one?
“I guess all materials have their challenges because I don’t really use colored pencils but they don’t really frustrate me. Probably just more markers because markers are fun and they run out the fastest.”
8. Do you have a favorite art museums?
“I don’t really know of a lot of museums but the museum in DC was really really nice like it had a lot of good paintings. I would go there again.”
