On January 23rd, San Dimas Girls wrestling faced off Alta Loma for their Senior night. The Lady Saints had two seniors: Charlotte Collins and Charlene Smith, who is a captain of the team. They both took the center of attention as they walked across the mat, and they were thanked for their dedication and love for the sport. In the end, the Lady Saints won, with a final score of 42-35.
As the Girls Senior night started, the girl’s Wrestling team made a tunnel for their two senior teammates to walk through and go to their families to be introduced on the intercoms as they walked the mat to the center for their picture. After they took their family pictures, all of the senior wrestlers, boys and girls, took their last and final picture together.
When both lady saints senior wrestlers were asked how do you feel about this being you senior night and that his is going to be the last one they’d experience in high school, and what was your favorite memories from wrestling Charlotte Collins responded with “I’m really nervous but I’m really happy as well but I’m going to be really really sad and this going to be the last thing I’ll ever do, my favorite memory was probably the first ever practice because I was new and everyone was really really nice to me and I thought it was a new beginning for me, I’ve been in wrestling for 1 year,” she said.
“I feel pretty good but kinda [sic] sad because I’m going to miss everyone but its been nice, I feel its going to be kinda [sic] weird because its scary to be a senior but I’m going to be really excited, My favorite memory was meeting a lot of new sisters and having nice memories with them and knowing all of them and knowing how crazy they are.”
The Lady Saints had a total of 6 girls who had a match that night and only 3 people won their match but in the end the lady saints still came out with the win. A great way to go out for the Girls Senior night. The saints next week match will be them competing for a spot in CIF to keep their Season going.
