Here at San Dimas High School, we hold the undefeated lady wrestler, Aubrey Baeza. With wrestling being more than just a sport, Aubrey tends to hold the determination, hard work and will to be able to step out onto the mat and bring everything she has. She holds the strength in her eyes as she glares at her opponent with her hand out ready to embrace the grind.
From the age of nine, Baeza consistently was given the helping hand from her parents. They pushed her past limits she never knew she could pass, staying disciplined and strong minded she was able to go far and learn more and maintain the strong mindset that was developed. Aubrey always had her fathers hand to hold whenever she needed someone to bring her back up from the negative side of her mind. Her parents and herself will forever share these bonding moments together. Witnessing her mothers vibrant smile after each victory helped her understand the great she is doing. They were her encouragement and her rock that built her to the athlete she is today.
With all the successes and battles in Baeza’s own mind, she holds a record of 36-0. Through all of her hard work, with the help of her coaches and the people there around her, she can be proud of all of her matches. Words from Aubrey Baeza “I remind myself that I work too hard to give up in the match, I do extras and work even when I am sick. I can’t give it up” (Baeza). She holds all the glory in her own hands and makes sure she has the power and grit to go and succeed every time she is under the spotlight.
Although the glory is sweet, she gains the pride knowing she gave it her all. On the mat she will never be alone as she has the support of her teammates, coaches, and family on her back. With that she has absolutely nothing to lose. The journey is tough and will be stressful, but with Aubrey being as amazing as she is, she won’t have any problems to continue and make everyone around her proud. Whether she won by a fast pin or having to use more strength than used to, she never gave up and is now known as the undefeated Freshman.
