San Dimas High School’s Choir Department went on an exciting field trip to Disneyland on January 23rd, 2025. This trip included a Vocal Workshop that the students took at the beginning of their trip. After the magical workshop, the students were able to spend the rest of their time enjoying the park’s attractions, making this field trip both musically enriching and filled with fun.
This trip’s highlight and main focus was the Vocal Workshop, where Disney’s professional vocal coaches guided students to create incredible and hilarious cutscenes with their voices. In this session, the choir had the incredible opportunity to lend their voices to iconic Disney movie scenes, giving them a behind-the-scenes look at the magic of animation and sound.
They sang memorable songs like “I See the Light” from Tangled and This is Halloween from The Nightmare Before Christmas, perfecting their harmonies and timing to match the scenes on the screen. This unique activity showcased the students’ vocal talents and gave them insight into the creative process of bringing music to life in animated Disney films.
After the magical workshop, the students were free to explore Disneyland’s attractions and enjoy everything the park had to offer. There was so much for the students to do, from riding thrilling rides such as Space Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean to enjoying the savory Chicken Tenders at The Star-Wars Restaurant. “I loved riding the Big Thunder Mountain, it has to be my favorite ride there,” Senior Ryleigh Hawthorne added. And of course, no one could forget about the endless amount of Mickey treats that the park has to offer.
“The food was amazing and unforgettable, don’t even let me get started on the rides. It was so fun,” Emma Mankopf said. The choir members embraced the magic of Disney together, allowing the students to bond outside the classroom and strengthen their camaraderie as a team. Whether they were screaming with joy on rides or eating and enjoying food with friends, every moment added to the day’s unforgettable memories.
This trip was more than just a day at Disneyland; it was an enriching experience that combined fun with professional development. The Vocal Workshop gave students a deeper appreciation for the art of performance and storytelling, inspiring them to elevate their skills in future choir events and competitions.
