The Fire-Aid Benefit Concert occurred on Jan 30, 2025, at the new Intuit Dome and the infamous Kia Forum. Between the two shows more than twenty-five artists performed for the charity. Their main focus was to help assist the people that were affected by the fires but in this event, they were focusing on the LA fires. This is not an annual concert; it only occurs when there is a major fire that has destroyed many.
This benefit concert is meant to assist many of the families in LA that had lost their homes to the fires. Many performers had come together to perform with no financial gain such as Lady Gaga, Jelly Roll, Green Day, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and many more; since there were huge artists the tickets sold out almost instantly along with the tickets for a singular person costing a couple thousand dollars.
When the tickets for the concert came out many people attempted to get tickets though when speaking to students at SDHS just as senior Maylanie Larrimore had stated, ” Just for the nosebleeds they were a couple thousand. I would love to see the artists but I’m not willing to drop a few grand.” That has seemed to be a common theme with the students along with sophomore Piper Tom ” I love them but not that much.” Though with that the stadium was completely sold out.
Not only did people come to see the performers, they came together to help the community. The concert was for the people who had lost so much due to the wildfires, that they brought out people who had lost their houses and talked about what they were going through. The performers also picked songs that fit the situation and either only played calmer songs or they had slowed down their most popular songs.
The performers such as Pink, Billie Eilish, and many others had taken time to talk about how the fires had affected them as well or how they truly have deep sympathy for anyone and everyone that had been affected by the fires. They also wanted to thank everyone who had come out to support the cause and bring the community together.
This show proved how the community can come together for a common goal. Everyone had come to see the performers but they also knew when buying the tickets what the intention was all along. With this show, they raised millions of dollars to help people re-establish their lives after their great loss.
