On February 25th, students of San Dimas High School had the opportunity to participate in Career & Wellness Day, an event offering a variety of workshops on topics ranging from medicine to finance and mental health. Students selected workshops ahead of time that interested them and got to be grouped with others to learn new skills and insights from experts in each field. This event provided a valuable chance for students to explore potential career paths, choose what they like and don’t like before fully committing to it, and gain knowledge to help them succeed in the future.

The schedule for the day included the first and second classes, followed by a break where students could visit the career fair, and then a third class before ending with an SOS Signs of Suicide talk. The event featured professionals from various fields, allowing students to gain insights into potential career options. Each class provided an in-depth look at different professions, giving students a chance to ask questions and learn about the necessary skills and education required for each job.
Christian Narciso, a freshman, talked about his experience taking the classes. “I enjoyed interacting with the people there,” he said. “They were very welcoming and told me and many students a lot of useful information about colleges.”
During the break, students had the chance to explore the career fair, where representatives from different careers and companies shared information and answered questions. This allowed students to socialize with friends and professionals and get involved in even more options past the three classes they signed up for.
“Attending the career fair during break was really cool,” said Ben Xu, a freshman. “It was amazing to have the opportunity to talk to so many different and interesting people, and gave me a different insight into many other career paths and industries. It was a valuable experience that helped me understand more about what I might want to pursue in the future. I really enjoyed learning about different jobs and hearing from professionals.”
The day ended with the SOS Signs of Suicide class, which focused on mental health awareness and provided students with tools to recognize warning signs and seek help when needed. This was as an important reminder of the significance of mental well-being. Overall, Career Day was a unique experience, helping students consider their futures and make informed decisions about their interests and goals.
