From the Beginning

As the spring season brings about new sports, the tennis team is starting off the season with new talent. Although there are many returners, the Saints tennis coaches have had to bring in a lot of new people. With new talent and difficult teams, the coaches are hoping for a different type of season this year.

What most people don’t know is how tennis started and why it has become popular. In England, around 1600, when the game was first created players did not even use rackets. Around 1873 was when the modern version of tennis was created but, there was still much to learn.

Similarly, here at San Dimas, the tennis team has been around since the beginning and they have earned the respect of others through hard work and dedication. 

This team of unique and talented players has some of the most brilliant kids on campus. With 95% of Varsity having a 4.0 GPA or higher. This team also consist of many tri-sport athletes, ASB chair members, and Science Olympiad members. This group of individuals works together to create a great season for themselves and they seem to always come back.

On February 11, the Saints went head to head with rivals Bonita. The San Dimas tennis team lost but, they were happy because it was a learning experience for them. Bonita is a division higher than the Saints and it was a good start to a new season, especially for the long list of new players.

As the season begins, the Saints are ready for the intense matches but, are also looking forward to the special moments and great times the players with have with each other.
