On February 22, 2025, at 9:30 a.m., San Dimas Girls varsity water polo faced Troy in the CIF Division 4 Championship game, which was held at Mount Sac Swimming Pool. San Dimas won 9-2.

Going into this intense game, both teams were really nervous. The outcome was great for the Saints, as they fought hard for multiple games all season to get to the championship. Going into CIF, they were very confident and kept their composure throughout every match. All they had to do was keep winning and stay a team to make it to the championship, and that is precisely what they did. For Troy, they fought just as hard during the season to make it to CIF. For them, they kept winning and winning until the Championship. As Troy fought to stay in the game, Saints’ defense had a great game. Saints Goal Keeper Sophomore Madison kept every ball thrown to her in front and out of the goal but two. Troy had some lucky shots, but not enough to stop the Saints from fighting for the win.
Saints only let them score twice in the first quarter and held them from there. Both teams were excited since they were both on the board for scoring. Troy kept trying to score, but the Saint’s defense took on the task of not letting them score anymore. At the end of the first quarter, it got heated. Senior Izzy Santana got rolled from the game and was not allowed back in the pool in the second half of the game. Both their teammates and coaches were very upset. A teammate of her, Faith Kearns, states, “ I didn’t have fun playing since I was so stressed just being on locked down defense mode as we all were, and especially when one of our best players, Izzy Santana, on defense got “rolled” which means she can’t play for the rest of the game and in the second quarter we had to go out without her. It was really nerve-racking, but luckily, we held it down, and they only scored two goals in the first half.”

Going into the second quarter without her was tough, but the Saints pulled through and got the win not only for themselves but for their school, teammates, family, and others. The nerves for the girls were very high as one of the best players, Faith, says,” I felt a little nervous because that was the farthest I’ve ever been through the four sports, that CIF finals are by far the farthest. Still, we watched the film, communicated our game plan, and executed just as we wanted.” The Saints did everything they could to take home the win. Their coaches laid everything on the line for their girls to make sure they had everything and anything they needed to win the championship. Everyone was so proud of the girls for pulling through and taking home the win for division 4 CIF champions. This game will always be remembered through San Dimas High School.
San Dimas Saints made school history for the 2025 school year by winning the final round in CIF Division 4. Next, they will face Clairemont for state at Cathedral Catholic High in San Diego on February 25th, 2025.
