The 3rd annual Bonita Sports Fest occurred on Friday, March 21, on the Saints football field. This event allowed every special education class from the district to come together and have a track meet. There were many different sports, for example, javelin, relay racing, long jump, and a few others. This was a great time for all the students to get together and have a day dedicated to them.
There were many volunteers from the school district and others that the district had hired. There were many student volunteers from San Dimas High School, such as some members of Link Crew, all of the Best Buddies, some of the dance team, and others who wanted to help out and have fun. This day had collectively made long-lasting memories for all involved.

Not only did the students have fun, but so did the volunteers. One volunteer, senior Maylainey Larrimore, shared, “I honestly had a great time. It was amazing to see them so happy; their laughs were contagious,” when sharing about the event. Larrimore also shared the only downside to the event: ” There was honestly only one problem, it was so hot. Only because the sun was beating down on us while we were on the football field.”
The array of activities and sports allowed the students to realize how talented they are at some sports. Everyone who participated found that some were fast, could jump far in the long jump, and had crazy good aim. Though some students weren’t as talented, they were able to meet others and make new friends.
When the event had come to an end, the workers and volunteers provided lunch for all. Even accommodating all of the children with different food requirements and allergies. This was an added aspect to the deep thought and concern that all of the members have to make sure that everybody had a great day.
All of the volunteers and helpers had allowed the roughly one hundred special education students to get out with others, make friends, and participate in activities they normally wouldn’t. This day allowed for there to be many memories for all that were involved and made everyone feel united and seen.
