After working at San Dimas High School for over 20 years, Mr. Milbrandt is officially retiring as this school year comes to an end. He has been a passionate and dedicated Government & Economics teacher that prides himself in building up the young minds of tomorrow. He is a teacher that is known for always having a smile on his face and will always begin class by greeting his students. Milbrandt has always gone above and beyond searching for opportunities for his students by taking students to shadow under San Dimas’s local government and visiting Court Rooms in Los Angeles. He never passes on an opportunity to educate his students and learn something new himself. Mr. Milbrandt is a teacher that has been a huge asset to the success of students at San Dimas High School and he will be missed dearly.
Over the years, Milbrandt explains how he has truly enjoyed working with his 4,000+ students; learning from all their fresh and different perspectives he has been working with students and setting them up for success. He has truly inspired and encouraged students to live their best lives and help them to find their passion. Students bring Milbrandt joy when they light up about something that they are passionate about and fulfill their goals. Milbrandt states, “I really enjoy that opportunity to see students find what they are good at and blossom in that” when being asked about what he will miss most about teaching high school. This year Mr. Milbrandt will be graduating alongside the other seniors as this year comes to an end.

Just like our seniors, Mr. Milbrandt also has his high school and beyond plans and has already been preparing his movie production career as his new full time job. For years Mr. Milbrandt has been writing novels and he has been able to move his books into screen play while also being a teacher, but has now decided to retire from teaching to work full time in production. Films is the production company that he and his friends have created to direct and produce films that they hope to take to the big screen. Milbrandt already has 5-6 films in pre-production with scripts being written and being finalized to hopefully take to a big Hollywood screen. All of their films are faith based that have “positive, uplifting stories for people that might find them encouraging and uplifting”. Mr. Milbrandt is very passionate about his films and hopes to grow his productions into something greater for all to enjoy with family and friends. He is the type of person to devote their all into their projects and once he has a plan, he will find a way to get things done!
When being asked about his final words of wisdom to San Dimas, Milbrandt reflects and thinks of the wise words from past President Theodore Roosevelt in his speech given in 1910, The Man In The Arena, when he tells people to “dare greatly”. Mr. Milbrandt encourages current Saints, future Saints, his friends and staff that have been very supportive over the years, to ” dare greatly and be bold; to take those opportunities even if they fail. It’s okay, because they tried and they are seeking to make the world a better place”. Mr. Milbrandt has constantly encouraged all his peers to dare greatly and his compassion will be missed. It is not often when students find teachers that are fully devoted to their study and also the well-being of their students, but teachers such as Mr. Milbrandt make all the difference.
