During the 2024-2025 school year at San Dimas, a diverse group of students established the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Club to create a community centered on their faith. By creating a club focused on preaching Christianity, the founder, Angelina Rios, has made it easy for students to learn more about God in engaging ways. Despite the club being introduced this year, it has attracted many of our students. How has the FCA quickly engaged many of our students in such a short period?
After transferring to San Dimas, Rios’s passion for the club was deeply rooted, as she established the same club at her new school. Soon enough, members started to join, and students Ariana Rodriguez, Sophia Arretche, and Ryan Reed became leaders in hopes of spreading their passion for God to other student athletes. The club’s first debut was very successful as five full sign-up sheets were filled, and meetings were packed with students eager to hear the word of God. With Media Specialist Natalie Corona capturing all of the glorious moments, and their amazing Club Manager, Mrs. Alex, the leaders of the FCA have created a welcoming atmosphere for students to learn about God engagingly.

Each meeting starts with a game, allowing students to get settled and engaged. Afterwards, one of the leaders is chosen to spread the gospel and their encounters, hoping to inspire and further other students’ relationship with God. The meeting continues to split into small groups or one large group to discuss the message further and answer any questions.
By participating in the conversation, students Ariana Rodriguez and Ryan Reed are gifted the opportunity to spread their knowledge while learning how to guide others in their faithfulness. Despite it being intimidating, Rodriguez feels “God has placed it in her heart to share,” giving her the confidence she needed. Like Rodriguez, Reed expresses how “As leaders of the FCA and Christians, we are said to share the gospel” by being the messengers of Christ.
With hopes they continue to uphold the club, many senior leaders will be leaving the club to their underclassmen. Despite their leaving, Angelina Rios and her leaders have created a legacy here at San Dimas that will continuously inspire others & encourage students to explore their religious beliefs in an inclusive atmosphere.
