Honoring all seniors who are graduating this year the Track and Field team and seniors proudly stood up at their Senior Night after facing Alta Loma High School on Thursday, April 10th. The event, held at the Saints’ stadium, celebrated the accomplishments and dedication of graduating seniors who have committed years of effort, sweat, and spirit to the team.
After giving everything on the track running or in the field throwing, the ceremony started and the team gathered to recognize their senior athletes, each one stepping forward as their names were announced to loud cheers from teammates, friends, and family in the stands. Posters, flowers, and heartfelt speeches surrounded the night with emotion and joy.
“This team is like a family to me” Said senior Luis Padilla, one of the leaders in the team who in previous years used to run the 1600m and 3200m, but this year he decided that it was too much running and changed the 3200m for the 800m. “I will definitely miss this team for sure!”
Coach Diana said, “It will not be the same anymore without these great young athletes who are leaving. Definitely some of the best seniors I’ve coached in my 11 years of coaching.
During the meet, many seniors did a great job. Audrey Sanchez, a middle-distance sprinter helped her 4×4 team and had a great race against Alta Loma. Timas Rodrigez had a great senior night. Fun fact: this is his first and last track season. “It was a very fun and eventful night.” Timas runs the 4×1 relay, 300m hurdles, 4×4 and long jump. As we can see, he decided to to all these events in one meet, which is impressive and not everyone can do.
These are only some of the many great seniors that San Dimas High School has, and all of these seniors will be remembered for all the hard work and commitment they offered to the team.
After the meet, families took pictures with the seniors. There were smiles, hugs, and even some tears. Senior Night was a beautiful way to say thank you to the seniors. Their time on the team is almost over, but their hard work and friendship will not be forgotten.
