On May 8, 2025 at 5:45pm San Dimas High School had their annual Girls Powder Puff game to represent each class of the 2025 school year at the football field.
This was a one day tournament throughout every class to see who is the best class to win in flag football.
The class of 2026 played the class of 2028 while the class of 2025 played the class of 2027. The winners from those games were the class of 2025 in the class of 2026.
Next the class of 2026 played the class of 2027 Wow, the class of 2025 played the class of 2028. The winners of that was the 2026 and the 2025 again.
Lastly, the class of 2027 played the class of 2028 while the class of 2025 played the class of 2026.
Everyone knew that it was going to be a battle between the class of 2025 in the class of 2026 for not only Powder Puff, but for clash as well.
Juniors started on defense and did not hold the seniors. In the first 3 minutes seniors score to take the lead. Brissa Ayon (Senior) threw a touchdown and as she went for an extra point it was no good. This gave the Juniors a little chance to get back in the game.
Juniors ended up scoring from a throw by Audrey Schlim of both points for the touchdown and extra points putting them in the lead. As the game went on the competition got higher.
Faith Kearns states “I was extremely nervous going into this head-to-head match against the seniors. We only had 3 starters with us while they had more than 8 returners/starters. The junior class only got about one good practice in the day before, but we brought a speaker. We had a good stretch, we communicated and we had our coaches to guide us through and from the beginning of the match I knew we were gonna win. From the energy and intensity that we carried throughout the whole game it was enough to beat the seniors ”
As the score kept going back and forth it came down to the last play for the game… There was 30 seconds left on the clock and juniors were in the lead by 4 points.
Seniors had 1 more chance to score as juniors were playing very tuff defense Brissa throws a long ball in the end zone to Makenzie Mcmillin as it falls short. The perfect pass they had was not enough to win.
Seniors lose the game and the juniors celebrate. The energy was outstanding from the coaches, the crowd, and players. Last year Seniors won and everyone was not surprised. “The seniors win everything” stated by the Marquez twins but this year it was different. The class of 2026 is very competitive as they have a lot of young athletes to do the job and get the victory
Everyone knew it was going to be a good game! Lots of girls that played flag football for our school this year were playing for both senior and juniors game and that is why it was very competitive in the end. Juniors did take the win but both teams put on a great game.
Clash points were earned for the juniors to put them up near the lead for Friday! Clash is a huge event at San Dimas as every class competes for the title.
Clash will be the next day May 9th at 6:00pm in the gym! Everyone will be there wearing there class color. Come and out and support your class!!!
