As I sit here, typing my last piece of writing that I will publish to The Saint Scroll, I can’t help but feel nostalgia and reminisce on my time in high school. When I transferred to San Dimas during my sophomore year, I never would have thought I would be where I am today. It turns out, I really will miss San Dimas High School, and so many of the people and programs in it. All the people I made friends with, the teachers I’ve gained as mentors, and the clubs and initiatives I took part in.
I know everyone always says High School will pass in the blink of an eye, and freshman year, I wanted nothing more than to be done with school already, but now, I wish I could tell 14-year-old me to savor the moments more. The last four years were definitely full of ups and downs, but I am grateful for how everything shaped me into the person I am today.
Being an editor for The Saint Scroll for the past couple of months has been an amazing experience. The people, the stories, and, of course, the wonderful teacher, all made me gain a genuine passion for journalism. I have always had a passion for advocacy, and Journalism definitely helped me expand that passion. Writing to bring awareness and capture the beautiful essence of the school and its surrounding community has been one of my favorite parts of my senior year.
If I can leave The Saint Scroll community with something, I’d like to leave you all with some advice and guidance. As a girl who is soon attending Columbia University, Barnard College, in the heart of New York City, I can definitely tell you to just go for it! Don’t let fear stop you from doing something you want. Clubs, classes, groups, anything that has the slightest interest to you, just try it out! You never know what you might end up loving!
San Dimas High School and the Saint Scroll have given me amazing connections and experiences that I will forever hold with me. Remember to always give it your all because everything and anything is possible if you put your mind to it. As my father would say, “Dreams Come True.”
