On Friday, September 12th, San Dimas High School came together for one of the most exciting events of the year—the annual Smudgepot Rally. With cheers, performances, and games, the rally was the perfect sendoff for our Saints football team as they prepared to face their longtime rivals, the Bonita Bearcats, in the historic Smudgepot game.
The rally kicked off with a crowd-favorite game featuring the award-winning Culinary Team. Three chefs attempted to make a PB&J sandwich while playing “Blind, Deaf, and Mute,” leaving the audience laughing and cheering. Following the fun, the SDHS Cheer Team took the floor with a high-energy routine that got the entire gym on its feet, setting the tone for the day.
Next up was the nationally recognized Dance Team, who wowed the crowd with their sharp, powerful moves. Their routine captivated the audience and carried the same level of energy and precision that has earned them national titles.

After both performances, the gym radiated with Saint pride, ready to carry into the evening’s big game.
Students also had their chance to shine with a spirited relay race, where each class sent down 10 volunteers to compete for Clash points. The excitement continued as the football team joined in on a competitive obstacle course, splitting into groups of four while the crowd cheered for their favorite players.
To close out the rally, the football captains and Coach Holman addressed the school, sharing encouraging words and rallying the Saints one last time before the big game.
More than just a pep rally, the Smudgepot Rally is a tradition that brings the entire SDHS community together. It celebrates the legacy of the Smudgepot game, a rivalry that has spanned decades between San Dimas and Bonita. Inside the SD gym, students, staff, and athletes joined together, as one to support the Saints. As the football team prepared to take the field, the rally reminded everyone what it means to be part of the SDHS family, full of spirit, unity, and pride. Win or lose, the boys knew their school was behind them every step of the way.
