Clash, Three Years Strong
Clash of 2019
May 2, 2019
School spirit has always been a huge part of San Dimas. One of the main events that happen at San Dimas that really showcases our school spirit is Clash.
Clash is an annual event, where all the classes compete against each other. The classes compete not only to win a trophy but also receive bragging rights for the rest of the year. There is a series of games that each grade level attempts to win in order to gain points. One of the biggest parts of Clash is the iconic class dances. A group of students from each class gets together to create a routine which results in a performance. The dance is worth the most points of the night, so it is a very important factor in being able to win Clash.
For the past three years, the class of 2020 has won Clash, and this year they were coming for their title. Their biggest competition this year was the Seniors, who really came to play. Both the classes were decked out in their class colors and ready to take on the main events with ferocity.
One student who went to Clash was Sophomore, Molly Gonzales. She talked about how the juniors have a three-year winning streak when it comes to Clash. “I was a little salty the juniors won, but I’m happy for them”. She added, “it was a good time and I had a lot of fun”.
Although the event was very competitive, there was still a sense of connection between all of the students. “I have a lot of junior and senior friends,” Gonzales says, “So yeah I’m proud of the juniors for winning”. Some students left the gym elated and others, not so happy, but overall everyone still had a great time. Clash was definitely a success, and everyone can’t wait to see what is to come for next year.
