Humans of SD – Shallyn Gilbert

“One day in the summer of 2019, I went to my friends house to see some kittens that he found in his attic. He was giving them away and I finally convinced my mom to let me take one home. After getting the kitten and we were on our way home, we stopped at the store to get him some food. My mom left me in the car with him and he was really scared so I let him roam around the car. Somehow he found a hole under the glove department of the car and slipped into it. I could hear meowing but I couldn’t find him. I didn’t know what to do so I called 911 and the humane society, but they said they couldn’t do anything. When my mom got back to the car, she told me to call AAA. The AAA guy flashed his light into the air conditioning vent and there my cat was. We ended up having to go to the car dealership so they could take my car’s glove department apart. While they were grabbing their tools, I saw my cat sticking out of the whole he slipped into and I snatched him out. After everything was settled and I finally got my new kitten home, I decided to name him Dash so I could always remember the story of getting my first kitten.”
