Haunted Hayride Brought Halloween Spirit

Halloween Activities were Safely Continued by Haunted Hayride

November 5, 2020

This year amidst Covid-19, people’s lives have been affected and many have had to cancel plans and fun events. While many thought that this year’s Halloween activities would be canceled, thankfully the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride is continuing right at our own Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas from Sept. 25 to Nov. 1.

During these hard times it’s already difficult to have fun or experience the Halloween spirit.

Due to safety restrictions, The Haunted Hayride had to be conducted differently than in prior years. ¨I didn’t feel it was the same. I felt it was better in the past only because you actually went on a hayride in the past and you were out amongst the elements not just in your car¨ secretary Kimberley Lowary stated.

¨I had been to one before and it was better before Covid because you felt really immersed in the story when you were able to ride in the back with the hay bails¨ alumni Makayla Falter said.

Although, The Haunted Hayride also gave people a sense of normalcy and made Halloween not feel completely canceled. ¨To me it felt like going to this would have been the closest I would’ve gotten to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios¨ alumni Cruz Hernandez said. ¨During these hard times it’s already difficult to have fun or experience the Halloween spirit. I do believe it was worth it.¨

Prices for the hayride started at $49.99 for a two-passenger car and went up from there. Hayriders had mixed feelings about if the experience was truly worth it. ¨It was not worth the money, understaffed, and you just sit in your car¨ Falter stated.

However, some believe it was worth the money and that they would in fact go again. Lowary says she would definitely go again next year.

Although one thing is for sure, The Haunted Hayride brought the screams. ¨I did get scared multiple times, like this one time where I opened the car door to tease my family members, and one of the monsters came at me out of nowhere and it really scared me¨ Hernandez said.

Thanks to the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride, some Halloween spirit was restored in San Dimas.
