2021 Homecoming Football Game

The annual homecoming football game

October 25, 2021

On Friday night September 24, 2021, the annual homecoming football game took place for the San Dimas Saints. They went up against the Monrovia Wildcats at home. Coming into the game, the Saints had just beaten Schurr high school 42-12. Monrovia was 4-0, and the Saints were 4-1, so it was expected to be a pretty tough game.

As kickoff commenced, the fans and everyone watching were ready to see an intense game. The Wildcats had possession of the ball first and the Saints were on defense. On 2nd down, the Wildcats hiked the ball, and their Quarterback threw a 65-yard pass and their receiver caught it and ran into the endzone for a touchdown. The Saints fans were shocked that Monrovia scored so fast. The Saints struck back and scored on their first offensive possession and gave their home crowd hope. Due to a missed field goal attempt by Monrovia, the Saints were up 7-6 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Wildcats scored twice to increase the score to 22-9. The Saints went scoreless throughout the whole second quarter and were starting to look hopeless. When asked about how he felt about the game, linemen David Gurrero stated ¨I was pretty happy with how we were playing. Later on, as the game progressed I realized how bad we were losing and it made me upset.¨

At halftime homecoming events took place and the queen was crowned. Out of the 5 girls who had the most votes, Samantha Goneshi was crowned as the homecoming queen. All the fans were celebrating momentarily until the 3rd quarter began which led to nothing but disappointment as the Saints got scored on 2 times and only scored once with the final score being 37-16, Monrovia.
