“I first started skating around the beginning of eighth grade. I wanted to learn how to skate because of my friends and I really didn’t have anything to do. It was hard at first, I fell a lot and I’d try stuff I knew I couldn’t do and I’d just die. Nothing discouraged me, I really wanted to learn how to skate and my friends were really encouraging and we all kind of sucked so it was pretty good. Skating to me is kind of like a family, like with the local skate shop it’s like a family. If I had more time on my hands without school and sports I would have time on my hands to pursue it as a career option.”  – Sophomore, Miles Thomas
