October in San Dimas comes with many different themes and cultures; the Saints all have different things they make and get for the fall season. From caramel apple slices to Dutch apple pies and dessert sweets, there are many different fall foods to choose from. Some Saints will also be cooking foods within the fall theme.
As the leaves turn throughout this fall season, food is a big thought on everyone’s mind, because although the start of fall is a season, people turn to the flavors as a true staple of fall. It starts within the Culinary class here at San Dimas, where Mr. Brandler intends to make the cooking fit the fall season.
The main dish, as of lately, that Culinary 2 will be making is pumpkin cupcakes, which bring the fall flavor in full effect. Many people think of pumpkins and spice when they think of fall, and pumpkin cupcakes are a great way to kick off the fall food frenzy in San Dimas. The students in the Culinary class are delighted to put their cooking to the test with foods built for the fall.
Diego Dominguez is excited for his fall term in the kitchen, where he plans to make his fall foods “taste like the autumn leaves.” Fall foods don’t just stop at San Dimas, though many people are raving over Starbucks pumpkin spice lattes or comfort foods to fill their sweet tooth. Derek Galeazzi’s favorite fall comfort food is pumpkin cookies, which remind him of the McDonald’s cookie tote boxes, which he “eats all the time.”
Outside of San Dimas High, fall is starting to swing into full effect with restaurants and cafes coming out with their fall menus, ranging from spiced apple cider to Dutch apple pie slices. In local farmers’ markets, vendors sell fresh apples, which can be used in many fall dishes.
So whether it’s warm pumpkin cupcakes baked straight from our Culinary kitchen here at San Dimas or caramel apple slices cut at home to pumpkin spice lattes filling your sweet tooth, fall flavors are in full effect here at San Dimas High School.
