As the school year ends, seniors go off to college, and summer begins. Summer is the perfect time to get rest, have vacations, prepare for fall sports, and even get a glow-up. Sometimes we waste our time off because we have no idea what to do with it. This time of year is perfect for creating fun and unforgettable memories with your friends and family. The possibilities are endless, and you can make this summer unforgettable with a bucket list.
This summer, new movies and music are coming out. “I’m most excited for The Backrooms, the new Mandalorian movie, Spiderman, and The Odyssey,” freshman Londyn Graham expressed. These can be good movies to watch with friends or family, especially if you’re into Star Wars or the MCU. If you’re more into family movies, Toy Story 5 is coming to theaters on June 19th. This movie introduces a new protagonist, the digital screens. This summer, some major artists are releasing albums, including Olivia Rodrigo with “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl so in Love,” coming out on June 12th; Ariana Grande with “petal,” coming out on July 31st; Madonna with “CONFESSIONS ll,” on July 3rd; and many more.
Hanging out with friends is perfect for making memories and bonding. However, it can be hard to figure out where to go to create these memories. Some local places to go are Altitude, the Farmers Market, thrifting, and the movies. Altitude is an indoor trampoline park, perfect for getting out of the heat. The local Farmers Market is located on 245 E Bonita Ave. and is the perfect spot to hang out with friends and discover small businesses. This market is now open through September 14th every Wednesday from 4 pm-8:30 pm, so don’t miss out. A go-to thrift store in the area is Red White and Blue Thrift (also known as Community Thrift), located just a few minutes from San Dimas High School. This thrift store has much to offer, with a wide selection of clothing, accessories, shoes, and more. Freshman Jannelle Batiste says, “I’ve only been thrifting about two times in my life before, but both times I’ve actually found such cute clothes from thrifting! Community Thrift had tons of cute shirts (especially their button-ups in the men’s section, even though they were WAY too big for me lol) and pretty much everything I saw wasn’t too expensive and not beat up or worn down, which was super nice! I’d definitely go again, especially with friends. It really makes the thrifting experience so much more fun, 10/10 would recommend going.“
