After having a rough pre-season, San Dimas girls’ soccer is still searching for its first win, having fallen short to South Hills and lost 3-0.
The team remains focused and is determined to turn things around, no matter how long it takes.
Unfortunately, the Saints had to kick off the season opener against an experienced team that already gave us a run for our money last season. We had to share our Hacienda League champion title with the Huskies, due to our two losses against them, while they had a hard time beating Alta Loma. Even though the score was 3-0, the Saints were still able to put in a group effort and determination, especially on the defensive side.
The injuries this season have been one of the key reasons that have hindered the Lady Saints’ progress in the 2025-2026 season. This is forcing them to adjust to the missing players they depend on suddenly.
Sophomore Maddie has been out for a few games due to her hurting her knee right before the league opener started. Sophomore, Destiny Campos, has struggled with lasting hamstring pain, causing her to not play at her 100% self.
In addition to all the injuries the Saints have faced, the team has lost one of its key wingers, Grace De la Torre, who decided that transferring would be better for her. Losing a player that was a key player on the top made an even worse setback to the attacking part of the Saints’ style. “It is very frustrating not to have one win under our belt, even after all the hard work we put into practice. Nothing has been in our favor,” Destiny Campos stated. “The rebuilding period of our team has been difficult, and I hope that we can get at least one win this season.”
The team continues to be there for each other, despite all the setbacks that have occurred. Head Coach Christian Manzano is staying positive with the soccer journey and is proud of the girls for their growth and determination.
Coach Christian Manzano talks about how “the setbacks from this season have been unfortunate for you ladies, but no matter the injuries, transfers, money problems, and losses, each one of you girls has been able to show up and play.” There are still a couple more games that the Saints need to play, and each game, the Saints are able to get closer and closer to beating their opponents. No matter how long it will take for the San Dimas Lady Saints, the soccer organization is committed to growing and finishing what they started this season.
They remain in high spirits and want to end the last couple of games with a bang!
