Junior Isla Carver was selected as the artist of the month for her dedication to and love of her artwork. Isla has been featured twice at the Bonita Center of the Arts for her watercolor and acrylic paintings while at San Dimas. She has been creating art her whole life, and throughout her high school years, her art has evolved tremendously. Isla is a unique artist at San Dimas, and her work does not go unnoticed.
- What has inspired you to start making art?
“I’ve always enjoyed being creative and expressing my ideas in different ways, and I’ve been surrounded by it my whole life and just felt drawn to it.”

2. What’s a piece you’ve created that means the most to you and why?
“A piece that means most to me is the painting I did for Mr. Black in the Women’s Work art show. It meant a lot because the artist who inspired it is one that I always wanted to try the style of, and also it is me when I was little with my cat.”
3. What’s your favorite medium of art?

“My favorite medium is watercolor, but I also use a variety of other paints.”
4. What is the impact you wish to leave with your prices?
“I hope my art makes people feel something and maybe see things from a different perspective.”
5. How has your art evolved over the years?
“Over time, I’ve become more confident with my ability, and it made me want to try new styles and techniques.”
6. Who are some artists that you look up to/have influenced your work the most?

“The artist I look up to the most is actually my mom. While she’s not famous or a professional, she’s an absolutely amazing artist, and I hope someday I can be that good.”
7. Do you hope to indulge in an art career, or is it more of a hobby for you?
“For right now, it’s just a hobby, but I’ve been looking at career options, and hopefully I can make it into something I can do as a job.”
